Why can’t I trade even though I have a balance?

If you have a balance but cannot place a trade, it usually means your funds are not in your Main Currency.

At BABA Option, only the Main Currency can be used for trading.

How the account works

Your account consists of:

  • One trading account

  • Multiple Pocket Accounts (by currency)

Pocket Accounts are used to store funds while the Main Currency determines which funds are used for trading. Please refer to what is a pocket account for more details

The most common reason trading is not available

Example

  • Main Currency: USDT

  • USDT Pocket Balance: 0

  • JPY Pocket Balance: ¥5,000

  • Total Balance: Shown

  • Free Margin: 0

Even though you have funds in JPY, trading is not available because your Main Currency (USDT) has no balance.

How to enable trading

You can fix this in one of the following ways:

Option 1: Use an existing balance

  1. Go to the Trading Screen

  2. Click on a Pocket Account that has funds (e.g. JPY)

  3. That currency becomes your Main Currency

  4. Trading becomes available immediately

Option 2: Deposit into your current Main Currency

  1. Keep your Main Currency unchanged

  2. Deposit funds in the same currency

  3. Trading becomes available once the balance is reflected

Important notes

  • Changing the Main Currency does not convert funds

  • Pocket Account balances remain unchanged

  • Only the selected Main Currency is used for trading
